Router & Circular Saw Table Units
(Capacities & Functions - see comparison chart below)

Triton

Workcentre 2000 http://www.triton.net.au/products/wc2000_2.html
Compact Saw Table http://www.triton.net.au/products/cst_2.html

The Triton is sold in Australia, New Zealand and Britain, with no retail outlets in North America except a new direct order number from Cornwall Ontario.

Triton uses a thin sheet metal table and offers numerous accessories. The Workcentre 2000 cost is high at $339US and users would have to buy at least two added accessories in order to approach the Versatool’s functions.

When in the overhead mode, the slide rails for the saw and router are fixed and there is no workpiece contact with the bottom of its carriage, which would cause some loss of accuracy, smoothness and trueness of depth of cut. To rip the saw is mounted to the underside of the metal tabletop. There are two models, the Workcentre 2000 and the Compact Saw Table approximately $169US (has a 450mm [17.7”] capacity on either side of the blade) The Compact Saw Table is very limited in use and I was told is unavailable in North America.

The Triton is a very successful product in Australia, but has failed previous attempt in North America. Being made of sheet metal may not be very appealing as it does not jig-up as readily as does the Versatool, as well, the workpiece must be positioned from the sides for crosscutting.

WolfCraft
http://www.wolfcraft.de/
Variotec 66   (metal tabletop).
Master cut  (wood tabletop with metal carriage).

USA website www.wolfcraft.com does not offer these tables for sale.

WolfCraft has 3 units that attach circular saws, routers and jigsaws, but only the “Master Cut” is at all comparable to Versatool, but is not truly competitive in capacity or functions (crosscuts & rips to 7.6” only).

The tables are presently sold in Europe and are unavailable in North America.

The slides for the saw and router are fixed and there is no contact with the bottom of its carriage, which would cause some loss of accuracy, smoothness and trueness of depth of cut. To rip the saw is mounted to the underside of the carriage, which is then fixed. The useable surface is very small and unattractive. The workpiece must be positioned from the side for crosscutting.

Festool
http://
www.festool-usa.com  View Multifunction Table here… “Height-adjustable guide rail for safe sawing of even small and narrow workpieces”  Priced of $330US is steep considering very basic functionality. Ripping is limited to width of table.

The slide for the saw and router is attached on both ends, so the workpiece must be positioned from the side for crosscutting. Table dimensions 725 x 590mm (28 1/2" x 23 1/4"). Working height w/o legs 820mm (32 1/4"), 205 mm (8") Maximum workpiece thickness 90mm (3 9/16 ").  Festool does not work with any other power tools other than their own and these start at $440US.

Saw-Trax

These units are sold mostly as large tilting panel saw configurations. They are very expensive (complete models start at $1359US) and are limited in functions and portability.

VersaTool WoodWorkCenter
At only $160US Versatool  exceeds all above-mentioned units in capabilities for dollar value. Versatool will accept any popular circular saw and can be used on either the left or the right side of the table.

Also, Versatool is the only overhead router or saw table that allows open access for front loading of the workpiece (cantilevered arms), which also makes it the only portable unit known where the standard model has a 18" rip and crosscut, and the Panel Saw Kit easily handle 4'x8' sheets (also oversize sheet 49"x97"). As well it has the largest worktable (32"x 36") and is the only unit that includes built in T-tracks. Also, it will do plunge rips for making picture cuts, and when you add the patented cantilevered arms and geared elevation mechanism, it the best unit available for the siding professional.

Versatool WoodWorkCenter is a revolutionary new power tool attachment for circular saws, routers and jigsaws. It features a unique patented system that controls the users’ power tools and the workpiece, allowing them to perform some of the most difficult tasks that they will ever need to do, safer and more accurately than ever before.

With the users’ circular saw mounted on the Versatool it allows the cutting of most all angles needed with easy adjustments, and Versatool basic unit is capable of ripping, as well as cross cutting to 18”. Versatool adjusts up or lowers down easily for accepting different material thickness up to 4”, and holds the workpiece down, controlling the workpiece for safer more accurate cutting.

With the router mounted on the Versatool the user can make moldings, rout simple or complex decorative edges, or make dados or rabbets (internal and edge grooves) with ease and safety.

Also Versatool lends itself to jigging giving it versatility that is unmatched by other power tool attachments. It is also portable, setting up and dismantling readily for storage or transportation.

There are no products in the marketplace presently that compete directly with the VersaTool WorkCenter, in capability/pricing, however some products might appear to the uninformed as being similar at a quick glance. Also, the Versatool requires less display space and can be displayed substantially vertical on a shelf or a wall display, if floor space is not available.
